4.2 Taking Skin Photographs and Evaluation

Recognised skin conditions: The AI algorithm can recognise acne, mycoses, papulosquamous lesions, dermatitis, neoplasms (nevi).

Click the Skinive Icon from the Application Menu (at the bottom) for a new skin check. Please review the check guidelines offered in the dialogue box.

A schematic figure of a person (3d-model) will appear in the next dialogue box (Fig. 6). You need to click on the corresponding part of the human figure where the skin lesion that you want to photograph is located. You can rotate and zoom the figure for best use. To continue the test, you can take a new photo of the skin area with your smartphone Camera, or you can choose a ready-made photo from your Photo gallery (Fig. 7).

Fig. 4Fig. 5Fig. 6

In the Camera mode (Fig. 8,) you can find the skin area of interest and take a picture of it. Point the centre of the camera at the skin lesion and make sure that in the area around the formation, there is not too much hair, shadow or other foreign objects. Centre the skin formation in the centre of the camera viewfinder, stabilise your smartphone and take a photo. To do this, you need to click on the Skinive Icon.

To get the most accurate results, please click the “Instructions” button and read the instructions on how to take a photo correctly. Tools such as Zoom, Flash and the AI-camera assistant are available in the Camera mode to improve the photo quality.

After a successful shooting with the camera, the application will verify that the captured image is of sufficient quality.

In case of unsatisfactory image quality, you will need to take a new photo of the same skin object (Fig. 9). If there is no network connection or there are problems with it, you will see the screen as in Fig. 10. Check the network connection and repeat the skin test.

⚠️ Recommended Conditions of Use:

  • Use the app in bright, natural daylight for optimal image quality.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures and high humidity (>90%), which may affect device performance.

⚠️ In case of an error or if the app returns an unexpected result:

  • Retake the test after 24 hours.
  • If the issue persists, consult a healthcare professional.

If the image quality is satisfactory, it will be transmitted to the server for evaluation.

The algorithm evaluates the percentage of similarity by visual signs (Fig. 11) and offers 3 options with the highest similarity percentage (Fig. 12). Click on the most suitable option, and you’ll get to the screen with the result card, where the image and metadata are stored (Fig. 13).

⚠️ If all similarity percentages are below 50%, consult a healthcare professional, as the app may not accurately identify the condition.

After receiving the result, you get the opportunity to save the image in your account and delete it. Access to the result in history can be obtained from the main screen of the application. You can delete the result by swiping left and clicking the “Delete” button.

All results produced by the application, including final recommendations, are used for informational purposes only. You should not draw any conclusions or make a diagnosis based solely on the results of the assessment.
